About the Restaurant
In Pentakomo, Limassol, where Cypriot hospitality meets tradition and good food, “Folia tou Drakou” (“The Dragon’s Nest”) has, in just a few years, become one of the most beloved culinary destinations in the Cypriot countryside. The traditional meze restaurant and taverna began its journey in 2017, in a small space that had previously operated as a coffee shop and could accommodate just 36 people. Today, nine years later, “Folia tou Drakou” has built a loyal following from all over Cyprus, with customers returning time and again. The venue has now been fully renovated and can accommodate up to 150 guests. Behind its success are brothers Giorgos and Konstantinos Konstantinou, who, through passion, perseverance and personal dedication, managed to transform a small village coffee shop into one of the island’s best-known and most talked-about tavernas. As they themselves admit, nothing came easily. It took hard work, commitment and a daily effort to introduce people to their restaurant and earn their loyalty. The taverna’s name carries its own special story. “Drakou” was the family name of their grandfather, while after 1974, the same premises housed the coffee shop run by their grandparents, Michalis and Eleni, who had been displaced from Agios Amvrosios in the Kyrenia district. It is a place filled with memories, images and emotions from their childhood, which today has been transformed into a warm hospitality experience for every visitor. The philosophy of “Folia tou Drakou” has remained unchanged throughout the years: quality, tradition and authentic Cypriot hospitality. At the heart of the experience is its high-quality meze, which has remained at a fixed price of €23 for the past two years, while continuously being enriched with new dishes and flavours that keep the dining experience fresh. At the same time, guests can also enjoy a selection of daily specials, prepared with fresh Cypriot ingredients and traditional recipes. The menu places particular emphasis on the authentic flavours of Cyprus. Among its signature dishes is the famous kleftiko, which has become a hallmark of the taverna, as well as the freshly made courgette fritters, which have developed a devoted following of their own. Other standout dishes include feta saganaki, traditional lountza with halloumi, and a selection of handmade meze dishes prepared with care, passion and consistency. At “Folia tou Drakou”, everything begins with the quality of the ingredients. Almost all of the products used are Cypriot, with a strong emphasis on freshness and pure, authentic flavours that evoke the experience of a traditional village taverna in Cyprus. Perhaps this is also why people continue to fill the taverna every day: because here, you will find not only good food, but an experience filled with hospitality, warmth and genuine Cypriot character.
